On May 10, 1946, the Most Worshipful Grand Master Arthur Brouillet  and his corps of Grand Lodge officers instituted San Carlos Lodge. Under Dispensation, Free and Accepted Masons of California installed its officers as follows:

Ferd Prince........Master           George Boyce..........Secretary

Walter Simon....Sr. Deacon     L. N. Parker..........Sr. Steward

M. F. Duxbury.......Marshall       Wm. A. Taylor...................Tiler

The impressive ceremony was performed in the Lodge room of the  Redwood City Lodge #168, who Hall Association made it possible for the  new lodge to use that Temple as its meeting place until suitable quarters could be found in San Carlos.
The San Carlos Lodge started work immediately and with sufficient success to warrant issuance of a charter by Grand Lodge in October, 1946. On October 23, 1946, the Most Worshipful Grand Master John Moore  constituted San Carlos Lodge #690 and presented its charter. As at the  institution, this meeting found the Redwood City Lodge room crowded to the doors to witness the installation of the Lodge under charter.
In September of 1948, adequate building space became available in San Carlos. The new lodge moved to it new home town and, at long last,  the dream of the Masonic Club of San Carlos became a fact.
October has been an important month in the history of San Carlos  Lodge. Its significance became apparent when a series of events happened, which have had a major impact on the Lodge and its brethren;  mostly with positive results.
Having been constituted a Lodge of the Fraternity in October of  1946, it was fitting that there was a mortgage burning ceremony conducted on October 19, 1984. The Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master, Roy J. Henville and his corps of officers presented an impressive and solemn ceremony denoting the momentous milestone, which had been achieved by the lodge members. An unstinting commitment to creating a lasting monument to San Carlos Lodge stands as a measure of the physical, mental and financial work.
